This is an agency-wide position, which is comprised of several geographically separated divisions with a nationwide force: Infrastructure Security Division, Cybersecurity Division, Emergency Communications Division, National Risk Management Center and several organizational units. Typical work assignments include:

  • Applying advanced IT principles, concepts, methods, standards, and practices sufficient to develop and interpret policies, procedures, and strategies governing the planning and delivery of services.
  • Applying IT systems security principles, concepts and methods, including state-of-the-art and emerging techniques and products, to recommend appropriate technical strategies to resolve complex and persistent IT security challenges.
  • Serving as an expert consultant evaluation for functional teams, to assist them in anticipating, identifying, evaluating, mitigating and minimizing risks associated with IT systems vulnerabilities.
  • Implementing higher-level security requirements such as those resulting from laws, regulations, or Presidential directives. Integrates security programs across disciplines.
  • Developing plans for long-range solutions to funding and staffing problems, identifies work to be contracted out, and participates with top-level management/senior executives in the development of CISA-wide goals and objectives.
  • Developing performance standards for the personnel in the Division.

  • You must be able to obtain and hold a Top Secret/SCI or lower level security clearance as identified by CISA.

Qualifications You qualify for the GS-14 grade level (starting salary $104,821.00) if you possess information technology related experience demonstrating each of the four required competencies:
  1. Attention to Detail: Evaluating the work of staff to determine areas of improvement.
  2. Customer Service: Delivering systems and services that are responsive to the needs of customers.
  3. Oral Communication: Speaking with managers regarding IT system security.
  4. Problem Solving: Resolving issues and problems associated with security technologies and/or threats.
In addition to the above requirement you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level performing the following duties:
  1. Advising staff within the organization on how to respond to critical network intrusions to the organization and/or the nation's critical infrastructure.
  2. Directing the work of subordinate staff (i.e. assigning work, developing performance standards, making authoritative decisions regarding personnel actions, etc.).
  3. Implementing plans for IT security systems to identify, mitigate, and minimize system risks and vulnerabilities.
  4. Interpreting regulations and policies used to govern IT systems across the organization.
